"Looking to pick up an iPhone without signing a contract? Apple Stores are again offering the iPhone for full unsubsidized pricing. It appears, however, the iPhone is still locked for the AT&T network."

The 3G is selling for $499 USD, the 16 GB 3GS is selling for $599 USD and the 32 GB will run you $699 USD. There is also a limit of one phone per customer per day, max of 10 lifetime, however if you are under contract you can purchase five phones per day. Hmmm, clearing inventory?

"Beginning next Thursday, March 26, AT&T will begin selling 8GB and 16GB iPhones at the no-commitment pricing of US$599 and $699, respectively, without the need to activate the device and sign a two-year contract at the point of sale."

Well this is certainly interesting news isn't it? On the heels of the iPhone 3.0 announcement comes this announcement from AT&T that you will be able to buy an iPhone with no two-year commitment. You still can't get out of the data plan or the activation fee, and you will only be able to buy one iPhone per the details released today. The cool thing is you will be able to either activate at the store or take it home and do it via iTunes, same procedure that was used when the iPhone was first announced a couple years ago. It is unknown if this deal will also be available from any of the Apple stores.
